Docking terminals are assigned based on the type and size of the vessel. Once you arrive in the area, follow the signs to your specific cruise terminal for drop-off points. The next closest major airport is in Miami, which is about 30 miles away from Port Everglades. Paid shuttles, ride shares like Uber and Lyft, and private transportation are all options here.

From I-595 travel east directly into the Port on Eller Dr. The Port Administration building will be on the right just past the security gate, 1850 Eller Drive. Expect to pay between $15-$20 from FLL and between $80 and $120 to the port in Fort Lauderdale from MIA. Once on I-595 East from either direction, follow signs to the Port Everglades exit.

Split the fare between four passengers and you pay only a few bucks each for a ride directly to the port (or any other location you desire). You can head to ground transportation at the airport and get a cab immediately whenever your plan arrives. The boardwalk connects three parks, 50 restaurants and dozens of shops. You can walk the boardwalk or rent a bike, and there are benches and public restrooms along the way. There are plenty of things to see and do when in Fort Lauderdale. Here are a few of our favorite recommendations for cruise passengers passing through town.
Port Parking
So if you’re staying the night in port, these hotels can be ideal to save some money on transportation. We’d recommend having some patience as it can take minutes before your car arrives. Given the short distance, it’s easy to transport back and forth from the Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood airport to Port Everglades. Unfortunately, there is not free shuttle that runs between the two points. However, if you are sailing out of terminals 2 or 4 (which are located on the north side of the port), we recommend using 1801 SE 20th St, Fort Lauderdale, FL as the address.
International flights must connect to one of these airlines in Miami. Check with the airline carrier for specific flight information. Marathon Airport is located roughly 120 miles south of Miami. There are a lot of points hotels -- close to the port, near the beaches and at the airport -- as well as other boutique-style and luxury resorts. There is often a rush of passengers right at the start of boarding — and the ship may not be ready to accept passengers. In other words, if you don’t want the possibility of having to wait around to board, then arrive later in the window. Before you can get onto the ship, you have to check in and pass through security. The good news is that it’s no big deal and in most cases can be done in 15 minutes or less.
